OBMS

The idea of starting a secondary school was conceived more than twenty years ago (1996) when it was discovered that:

Most of our prospective secondary school students were roaming the streets as a result of the incessant strikes embarked upon by teachers in the public secondary schools in Oyo State. Also, most of the brilliant students from Oritamefa Baptist School could not be absorbed into International school, Ibadan because of lack of space. Many were forced to travel long distances to attend the Federal Government School, a situation which led to accident, and sometimes, death of Children during the long journeys.

The Church therefore decided to pray about the possibility of establishing a school and God answered the prayer. With the approval of the Oyo State Government, Oritamefa Baptist Model School took off with 115 students, 9 teachers and three non – teaching staff on the 23rd of September, 1996.

The Journey So Far: Though the beginning was rough, the school weathered the storm and grew in leaps and bounds. The pioneer principal of the school, Mrs. Bolanle Olabisi and her members of staff worked tirelessly to ensure that the school’s name is etched in the sand of time.

With the help of the Almighty, the school has witnessed an unprecedented development over the last fourteen years.

The school now has about one thousand two hundred students, fifty three teachers and fifteen non – teaching staff.

The news about the academic success of the OBMS Total Garden went round and the rush for admission into OBMS began. Therefore, it became imperative to found the Ring Road Annexe in October, 2002 in order to provide opportunities for qualified candidates who could not be admitted at Total Garden because of limitation of classroom space.

Academic success of the students of OBMS Total Garden started bringing trophies for winning competitions with old schools, that have gained fame in Oyo State. In addition, the students got excellent results in external examinations OBMS student – Opeyemi, Akanbi was rated 2nd best in West Africa in the Senior School Certificate Examination of 2002/2003 Academic session, the school was rated 5th in the nation and 1st in Oyo State in the WAEC Senior School Certificate Examination. In 2006, the duo of Oladeji Anthony and Aribike Tosin came 2nd and 3rd in the university matriculation Examination. They scored 306 and 303 respectively. In the 2007/2008 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination, our students Adetunji Azeezat Adesewa, Oyediran Elijah Olalekan and Jaiyeola Mercy Oluwadara came 1st, 2nd, 3rd, in the exams in Oyo State.

The general performance of the students external exams – WAEC, NECO and UME now UTME – attests to the goodness of the Lord Almighty and the commitment and drive of the management and staff of the school.

May the Lord continue to move us forward more and more.
